The Hutong's 2019 Winter Fayre

More Mulled Wine!

Winter in Beijing can be dark and cold, but this past Saturday we got a little bit of color and a lot of good weather at the Hutong Winter Fayre!

People gathered together under a bright blue sky to celebrate the holidays with a cup of mulled wine (or two or ten) and good company. In the early afternoon the rooftop was packed with people looking for a bite to eat. It got warm enough that people could show off their festive winter sweaters.

Downstairs, the main room and kitchen were overflowing with bags, photographs, jewelry, coffee, clothes, soaps, and other hand-made crafts. It made navigating difficult but gift shopping easy with so many goods to peruse.

The tea room offered a small getaway from the crowds, where you could taste Fujian tea or acquire some hot chocolate. It also provided a prime location for watching people come and go throughout the day.

Holidays are a time to reflect and appreciate the people around us. The Hutong is once again immensely grateful for the wonderful artists, vendors and community members that make the Winter Fayre such a spectacular event. More than 600 people came through our courtyard. Together we drank 255 bottles worth of mulled wine!

Thank you for supporting and making this year’s Winter Fayre another success! Happy holidays from the Hutong team!
