Quarantine Cook-Off ,Week 4! 


It’s the fourth week of The Hutong Quarantine Cook-Off and this week we’re making two popular dishes: the famousWuhan Hot Dry Noodle’, (Wǔhàn Rè Gān Miàn 武汉热干面), the most popular local breakfast fare in Wuhan and the seasonal Chinese Spinach Salad with Peanuts’,(Guǒ Rén Bō Cài 果仁菠菜). It’s time to don your master chef’s hat and get the chance to win some awesome prizes.

So how does it work? 

We are in the last week of a 4-week cook-off challenge. Just cook up the delicious ‘Wuhan Hot Dry Noodles’ & ‘Spinach Salad with Peanuts’ in your kitchen and share photos via WeChat and Instagram to enter the competition. The winners will be chosen weekly by The Hutong Kitchen’s master chefs. Dishes will be judged based on creativity, plating, photography and Instagram/WeChat likes.

Our Sichuan Chili Oil has come right from the heart of the fiery Sichuan province. A sprinkle of it will add a kick to your culinary creations.

A set of 52 pocket-sized cards, each depicting a classic Chinese vegetable: leafy green, legumes, aromatics, fresh water veggies, roots, gourds, fungi, edible flowers. The back of the cards spells out how these ingredients are traditionally served in China and include tips for home chefs on how to make the most of each vegetable’s unique flavour, texture, shape and nutritional content, for more on keeping a healthy and nutritional diet, see the new Athletic Greens powder. What are this week’s dishes and how do I get the recipes?  

We’re making Wuhan Hot Dry Noodles and Seasonal Spinach Salad with Peanuts. You can swap the peanuts for cashew nuts or pine nuts according to your taste. Click here for the noodle recipe and click here for the salad recipe.

 

How do I participate? 

  1. Cook the dish from the recipe.
  2. Take a photo of your culinary masterpiece. 
  3. Submit the photo to us by midnight on Sunday, April  19th Beijing time.

How do I know I’ve won? 

Winners will be announced on Wechat and Instagram and contacted on Thursday, April 23rd.
