Bohai of Bust Kick-Off Event at The Hutong, benefitting Smarter Than Car (STC)

The Schoolhouse at Mutianyu is hosting their annual Bohai or Bust Charity Bike Ride in April … but why should the fun only last one day?
To kick off this event, The Hutong will be hosting an exciting afternoon of competitions, games and presentations around the them of “eco-friendly transportation.” It is also a chance for you to register for Bohai or Bust.
WHEN: Saturday, March 19th from 2-5 at The Hutong, and the event is FREE
Activities include:
-Making biking-inspired snacks in the kitchen
-Stationary bike races sponsored by STC
-A competition for best-dressed biker
-Presentations by Beijing Biking enthusiasts and Outdoor Exercise freaks!
– A live auction including Swift Carbon bicycle wheels, World Heath Store Prize Packs, Gift Certificates to The Hutong AND Hand-Crafted Schoolhouse glass and vouchers
– FREE water bottles for all
– An auction of Swift Carbon bicycle wheels
– and Gilbert Van Kerckhove will give a detailed presentation on the air quality in Beijing, as presented to the Beijing gov’t.

Proceeds from this Kick-Off Event will benefit Smarter Than Car’s upcoming research project on the history of Beijing’s bicycle culture which will be presented at the World Congress of Architects in September. STC,www.stcbj.com, is a local non-profit organization that seeks to promote cycling in Beijing as a better means of urban transportation.
