| This culinary journey takes us across the boarders of food and beverages as we learn how to explore and better understand the worlds most commonly drunk beverage. One of the ways to do this is to learn the amazing aroma’s and flavours when using tea in the kitchen Helping Chefs create interesting and fantastic meals.Both savory and sweet teas can both assist to lift the flavor of almost any dish. In addition to its flavor tea has long been long known to have numerous health benefits and when used to cook with in the kitchen can add a nutritious supplement to a healthy diet.
Tea has been known to be beneficial to aid in treating atherosclerosis, LDL cholesterol, cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, liver disease, weight loss, neurodegenerative diseases, and even halitosis. In the Hutong ‘Cooking with Tea’ workshop we will prepare 3 exciting dishes – 2 savory and 1 sweet. Of course with a limitless array of teas available to taste and sample during the cooking class also. this too will open a whole new world to your culinary repertoire. The 3 teas we will be using for the dishes this week will be: Mo’ Li Hua (Jasmine), Anxi Oolong, and Puer Tea. All 3 teas come from different tea growing regions of China and are readily available at many stores in the area. The remaining ingredients we will be using are readily available at most markets and a quick trip to the store and a little bit of time will give you great results without breaking the bank. |
