Ring-Making-Workshop

Traditionally jewellery was a sign of status and wealth; nowadays, there are so many kinds of jewellery, that is has become a fashion choice that can be enjoyed by all. Still, the art of making jewellery is a craft known to few.

In this two-and-a-half hour workshop,  designer Hannah “Xiao Jia” Ren will start with a brief history of jewellery from ancient times to the present day. However, this will also be a hands-on workshop where participants will learn how to determine ring-size, how to measure their own finger to fit, how to file, clean and solder metal, how to apply different surface finishes using different tools, as well as learn color’s role in jewellery making. We will also set up an open fire work station and demonstrate what a professional jeweler does when jewellery is sent to be fixed and/or resized.

In the end, you will make your own 925 sterling silver ring.
