Learn to draw the human head in a more informed manner by developing an understanding of its anatomical and planar/muscular structure. Emphasis will be placed on proportion, light and shade, weight, gesture, and the basic structural units of the human head. Class work will progress from quick poses to prolonged studies to a finished portrait drawing. Review of master drawings and demonstrations enhances instruction.
Dates & Time: Wednesday October 16th, 23rd and 30th, & Wednesday November 6th, from 10:00 – 13:00.
Cost: 1100 RMB, 1000 for members.
The class will be taught by Jeffrey Morabito. Born in Bronxville, New York, 1980, and being half Chinese,
his early years were spent traveling between New York and Hong Kong. After studying at Parsons, Hahneman University Hospital, and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Jeffrey gained success in the field of medical illustration before he decided to break his ties with commercial and medical art and to continue studies in painting at The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts where he was placed on the National Dean’s List.
In 2006, Jeffery was offered an opportunity to receive private instruction in calligraphy and ink and wash painting at Yeoun Gok Calligraphy Academy in Seoul and this brought him back to Asia. In 2009, Jeffrey came to Beijing, a place of cultural intrigue, on a Red Gate Gallery Residency. Since then, he has based his art practice in Beijing while continuing teaching art at Dwight school exchange program at Capital Normal University. He has had exhibitions in; “Art Beijing” International Art Fair, N-Space and Jay Gallery in South Korea, Rosenfeld Gallery and his work was shown in multiple public and private collections including the Summit at Paces Medical Center in Altanta, and the Babbio Center at the Stevens Institute of Technology.
