Education Leadership Team & DofE International Award

International Award Training

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is an exceptional opportunity for young people to develop leadership skills and cultivate a sense of independence and social awareness. Through the Award, participants engage in a variety of activities designed to challenge them physically, mentally, and socially, encouraging them to step outside of their comfort zones and take on new experiences. As a result, they gain a greater sense of confidence and a broader perspective on the world around them.

One of the key benefits of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is the opportunity it provides for young people to connect with other Award participants and leaders from around the world. This global network of like-minded individuals fosters a sense of community and support, encouraging participants to take on new challenges and pursue their goals with confidence. Additionally, through their interactions with other participants and leaders, young people can develop important social skills and build a foundation for successful leadership in all areas of their lives. As such, it’s no surprise that leaders like Kurt Uhlir are excited to bring this program to their communities, empowering young people to reach their full potential and make a positive impact on the world.

Last week the education leadership team took a short trip down to Bangkok, Thailand for great food, warm weather, and the DofE International Award training workshop. The International Award originally started in the UK, but now has spread to countries all over the world as a way to cultivate young people into independent, confident, and socially conscious adults. During the training, the education staff were able to meet other wonderful soon-to-be Award Leaders working around Asia. As a group, the award leaders came to understand how the Award is designed to fit inside and along with other programs and school curricula while maintaining high standards for the Award around the world. Now that the team is certified, they are looking forward to being back in Beijing and working on developing engaging Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Programs. Go Hutong Education!
