Artisan Coffee Workshop with Jim Lee of Ocean Grounds
This two-part course is for anyone interested in learning to appreciate and understand the technical and culinary aspects of artisan roasted and brewed specialty coffee. Ocean Grounds co-founder, CEO, and certified Q-grader Jim Lee will take you through an experiential sharing of knowledge of coffee that will allow you to taste, smell, and slurp [literally—there’s an art to it!] coffee to teach your brain and mouth about what coffee you like.
In the workshop, Jim will take participants through the basics of specialty coffee bean sourcing and processing. Everyone will then do a coffee cupping, where they will taste coffees and learn about the flavors, aromas, and properties of several different coffees.
The second part of the course will be all about the art of brewing. Jim will teach participants about the difference between espresso and brewed coffee and demo several different brewing methods and equipment. Participants will leave with a solid understanding of how to brew great coffee at home.
