The Hutong is proud to bring you a beloved winter tradition. This November and December, have a glass of mulled wine on us! Our Hutong chefs have crafted a wonderful blend of mulling spices to celebrate the change of the season. As the winter chill sets in, our cozy kitchen is the perfect place to beat the cold and relax with good food and good friends. Starting November 1st, we will serve a complimentary glass of mulled wine in each evening (19:00) and weekend cooking class with extra glasses available for 10rmb each. We can’t think of a more perfect way to warm up in Beijing.
And this December, learn to cook a variety of Chinese winter treasures which will warm the body and bring comfort to the soul. Our winter comfort foods may not remind you of home – we are talking hot hearty lamb and date stews, braised chicken and chestnuts, steamy hong shao rous and steamed egg custards – but they are homestyle and homemade, and they will soothe your mind and fuel you with energy to fight the freezing cold. Our kitchen represents both the hearth and the heart of The Hutong, and we welcome you to warm up with us this winter by learning the staple dishes of China’s coldest winters in our cozy courtyard.
Our Winter Comfort Foods workshop is taught by both Chef Sue and Chef Sophia.
The pictures above and below are of Sue’s Lamb and Date Stew Recipe, to be featured in our upcoming Seasonal Cookbook.
