This July, The Hutong and The Linden Centre are thrilled to bring you “South of the Clouds,” a five-day culinary excursion in Yunnan, a region not only known for its blue skies and lush nature, but being home to the most diverse number of Chinese ethnic minorities, Yunnan boasts the broadest variety of delicious exotic cuisines. Each day will bring you new flavors, new recipes, new stories, new friends.
The Hutong’s Executive Chef Sue Zhou will accompany you on the excursion to lead a series of cooking classes that will teach you how to bring Yunnan cuisine to life. Chef Sue will teach you the basics and beyond. You will go back home with memories of Yunnan’s mountainous landscapes, of the old rural village surrounded by its rice crops, of the vibrant colors of ancient Dali town and you will be able to recreate a slice of heavenly Yunnan back in your home kitchen.
The Linden Centre is Yunnan’s most exclusive and treasured accommodation. More than just a hotel; it is rather a living museum of Chinese art and history floating in the rice and bean fields of a functioning, centuries’ old village, and housed in one of southwest China’s most important cultural relics – the Yang Family Courtyard. A nationally protected building, the Centre has been converted into one of China’s most unique bases of learning and relaxation and has been selected as the No. 1 Hotel in China on Trip Advisor for two years in a row from 2010-2012.
