5 Week Learn / Shoot / Critique Course

vietnam-13

Want to go beyond the “that’s great” comment from family and friends to really find out what works and doesn’t work in your images?  Want to learn from the masters on how they craft a stunning image and what it takes to do it?

This 5 week course will cover the most popular genres that photographers would like to improve their craft in, and will allow you to receive constructive feedback on work produced in those areas.

Each class will be divided into two sections:  first we will review the work of past and present photographers at the top of their respected field, examining in detail what makes their images great, and how they captured those images.

We will also go into tips for creating images in that genre, and any specialized gear that is needed as well.

Second we will look at and critique the work of participants that was produced for the class to get a better understanding of your strengths and weaknesses, and what you can do to improve on them.

The schedule is as follows:

Week 1-Introduction, portfolio review and assessment, presentation of the first genre:  Travel Photography

Week 2-Critique of participant’s work in the week 1 genre, presentation of the second genre:  Nature/Landscape Photography

Week 3-Critique of participant’s work in the week 2 genre, presentation of the third genre:  Street/candid Photography

Week 4-Critique of participant’s work in the week 3 genre, presentation of the fourth genre:  Portrait/family Photography

Week 5-Critique of participant’s work in the week 4 genre, final portfolio review and assessment.

This short course is open to photographers of any level with any type of camera.

The course is designed so that participants will have a week to produce work for critiquing during the following class.  It is not a necessity to produce work specifically for this class, but participants are asked to bring something in for every class to get the full benefit of it, work from your archive is also acceptable.

Dates are on Tuesday evenings as follows: 03/11, 03/18, 03/25, 04/01, 04/08. All courses are from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
