Whether you are a talented foodie or have never touched a Chinese cleaver in your life, you’ll find something for all skill levels. Join us this October holiday in mastering culinary arts with new friends in our courtyard kitchen.

Learn new kitchen skills such as:

  • Making your own hand-pulled noodles
  • Learning the art and flavors of Chinese tea
  • Using seasonal and healthy ingredients for a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) approach to cooking
  • Navigating ingredients in a Chinese market
  • Cooking up both Chinese staples and more unique recipes

Day 1: October 5

Meet 10:30 AM at The Hutong Courtyard

Cooking Class: The Basics

  • Introduction to common cooking ingredients in the Chinese kitchen
  • Basic Stir Fry Oil
  • DIY Basic Chilli Paste / Oil
  • Stir-Fried Pork with Black Fungus, Day Lily and Eggs (“Mu Shu Pork”)

Ingredient Blind Taste-testing

Tea Tasting Workshop

  • Learn to select, brew and taste various teas while being introduced to the history and mythology infused in each cup

Chinese-style Hook ‘N’ Cook activity (put your skills into practice!)

  • Team up, cook up a unique Chinese recipe guided by our instructors, and present your dish!

Finish by 7:30 PM

Day 2: October 6

Cooking class: Hand-pulled Noodles

  • Traditional hand-pulled noodles (la mian) from scratch
  • Seasonal Xinjiang-style noodle sauce

Qigong Workshop

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Cooking Class

  • Stir-Fried Yam with Vegetables
  • Pumpkin Rice with Lotus Seeds and Cured Pork
  • Braised Chicken with Chestnut and Mushrooms

Finish by 7:30 PM


Day 3: October 7

Chī Le Ma Culinary Market & Street Food Tour

  • Create your own Chinese kitchen
  • Explore the colorful and fresh items in the local market
  • Enjoy a “walking brunch” with tasty local flavors

MasterChef Cook-off & Cocktails

  • Design and prepare your own final dish
  • Final group shared feast with drinks, tunes, and fun
