Genghis Khan Marathon

Nordic Ways’ Genghis Khan Festival in Inner Mongolia consists of two sport disciplines: mountain biking and cross country running. Mountain bikers are being offered a 3-day stage competition, while runners get the chance of running a breathtaking off road marathon. Both events take place in the lush grasslands surrounding Xiwuqi town and cater for all levels of athletes.

After five years of gradual growth, the event had a refreshing facelift in 2012 which boosted participation and partnership numbers to record heights, to the extent that a lot of domestic runners and bikers now label it as a ‘classic’ – including many Hutongers. Apart from the sports competitions, there are plenty of cultural and culinary delights as well throughout the weekend, including the big outdoor bonfire party at the Mongolian Yurt Camp.

The Festival will be held between 5 and 7 July and online registration has already been opened via the event website. The grasslands are in a remote area and hotel options are limited, so early RSVP is necesary. You can also ‘Like’ The Genghis Khan Festival on Facebook and interact with fellow participants. Finally, runners in Beijing can get themselves in shape for the Grassland Marathon via the training camp organised by Hey Running. For any further information, please write an email to info@nordicways.com.
