Food, Film & Friends Chocolate Extravaganza

Electric Shadows and The Hutong team up to take you on a global journey of the senses. Every month we combine world cinema with international cuisine from a chosen country, beginning with a cooking class led by one of The Hutong’s chefs and followed by a film screening from that chosen country.

In October, enjoy chocolate as the seductive finale of a great meal, and as the enticing winning ingredient of a main course. Taste your way to a new perspective on chocolate with The Hutong.  In this class you will learn to make a chocolate dessert and an exquisite savory chocolate creation. Explore the wonders of chocolate fusion cuisine and how to use chocolate as an ingredient to bring out the flavors in fashionable dishes.  Afterwards, stay for a screening of the classic film Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (1971, Mel Stuart), based on the beloved book by Roald Dahl and starring Gene Wilder.

Food, Film and Friends is done in partnership with Electric Shadows. Electric Shadows hosts a variety of events in Beijing and beyond, including a short film showcase on the first Sunday of every month, practical experimental film workshops and an amorphous film club.
