Camera1

Everyone needs a refresher now and then, and our camera basics covers just that with the option to put it immediately to use!  Paired with the afternoon course “Lighting in the Studio,” the basics covers all the buttons and settings on your camera, followed by decisions for aperture and shutter speed settings.  Tips on lighting and composition will follow; and then you’re ready to go! What we’ll cover:

  • Controlling exposure so that you’re the one in control, and not your camera.  Shutterspeed, aperture, ISO, white balance, and all those other (useful) buttons on your camera.
  • Concentration on using shutter speed setting for creative control and blur/sharpness.
  • Focusing on aperture settings for depth-of-field control.
  • Designing a photograph with theory of image composition, color, and balance.
  • Thinking about lighting techniques as they apply to basic additional tools of reflectors and the addition of flash.

Participants are encouraged to bring their DSLR camera or their preferred standard point and shoot.
