Video above by intrepid ISPP student Zsofia Barta, who managed to keep her “rubber on the road” while biking through the best that Yunnan had to offer.

Biking over 200km across southern Yunnan’s mountainous landscape and tropical rainforests, this bike trip was conquered by The International School of Phnom Penh’s bravest and brightest. Lucky to host such an enthusiastic group of good eggs, these kids were stubborn in their determination to make it through the tough terrain, were respectful and thoughtful at every meal and with every homestay family, and demonstrated their creative talents in all the cultural activities they shared.

Off the bikes, the trip was filled with a variety of stimulating activities, including treks through steep terrain to reach a hidden waterfall, an afternoon spent exploring and playing with the children of Manbo Village, traditional pottery making, a Dai BBQ cooking class, organic paper-making, Pu’er tea pressing and practicing the meditative art of Qigong. Every morning, we filled our bellies with traditional rice noodles soaked in pork broth and enjoyed beautiful feasts of tables filled to the brim with freshly picked vegetables and smoked meat dishes. Every evening, we looked up at the vast expanse of stars and reflected on the day’s lessons before laying our heads down and hunkering down.

Upon returning to Cambodia, this group’s perspective on travel had changed, but the mantra remained: may The Journey Continue!
