Join us at The Hutong as we heat up our oven to get prepared for the long Beijing winter ahead.  In addition to a heaping helping of music and merriment, we will be serving Homemade Aussie Pies from Two Guys and a Pie, including their signature “Slow loving Aussie” – 100% pure beef brisket, fried onions in a slow simmered, homemade beef reduction – a surprise seasonal creation featuring 京A ale, and many more!

Australian Chef Drew of Balmain Gourmet Sausages will strut his Gaucho Pork Sausage – an authentic Argentinean sausage, with Smoked Bacon and a full bodied Malbec red wine, in a skin of Natural Hog casings – as well as Pork Basil & Sun-dried tomato Sausages. All of Drew’s gourmet sausages are handmade and made from the best cuts with no preservatives or additives or junk.

To accompany the delicious pies, The Hutong have carefully selected a range of locally brewed ales and stouts that will allow you to travel the world in just a gulp! On tap are a number of microbrews from our friends at A and our longtime brew partners at Great Leap. We’ve got your ale odyssey covered.

Among the beers that will be featured is 京A’s Bulang Pu’er Pale Ale, a beer brewed with tea sourced by The Hutong’s owner and tea nut Mark Thirlwall on a recent trip to Yunnan’s Pu’er-producing Xishuangbanna region. After you try this beer, you may be so inspired to learn where the tea comes from that you’ll join The Hutong’s Spring Festival Cycling Journey to Xishuangbanna. Typically held every Golden Week in October, we’ve gotten such great feedback from all of our participants (and heard a rumbling desire from some to get out of Beijing for a more tropical locale in early February), that we’re going to hold an additional one! Check out some great pictures and a video from our latest trip, and a wrap-up blog post. If you’re so smitten, contact info[at]thehutong[dot]com for more information on how to sign up. The Chunjie Trip will leave from Beijing on January 30th, and return on February 7th.
