Cambodian Food The Big Spring Fayre Sun April 18th

Celebrate the seasonal change with The Hutong and get ready for a spring clean for body and mind!
Look forward to; cooking demonstrations using new seasonal organic produce, health talks from our resident TCM practioner Alex Tan and tea guru Joel Shuchat, along with a host of organic stalls and home-made produce on offer from local companies and groups. Also bring in unwanted items such as clothes and DVD s and exchange them at our’swap shop’.

C52 Connecting Cultures Culinary Challenge

C52March The Hutong Connecting Cultures Culinary Challenge kicked off to a great start with Brazilian host Gaby Alves from SALT restaurant. cooking delicious feijoeda. Chanyi cooked up a delicious Cambodian lunch. Elaine, known in Ireland as Eibhlin hosted a very jolly St Patricks celebration, finishing with a little Irish Jig. We also discovered that Kamila is not just a brilliant singer, songwriter & musician, she’s also a wizz in the  kitchen. Kamila treated guests to  an amazing  Afghanistan feast.

Keep an eye out for April’s C52 events, we have guest from Liberia, The Philippines, Morocco, Hungary & Bangladesh all hosting events this month. If you want to enjoy the opportunity to appreciate how truly global Beijing really is, come join in for one of our events. These events are a great way to meet people outside your regular social circle.

This is a non profit event, ticket price is enough to cover costs and any  left over funds are donated to  Roots & Shoots.

Chan Yi Chan Yi Rhodes

Last month Chan Ny hosted a Cambodian style lunch as part of The Hutong’s C52 Connecting Cultures Culinary Challenge and the food was such a hit that people were begging Chan Ny to teach them how to make it. So if you didn’t manage to make it to the C52 Cambodian lunch, you can still learn to cook this delicious food yourself in the Cambodian Cooking class on the 15th April

With More than 10 years of media experience working for Companies Such as BBC, Stern, UNICEF, Canon and Bloomberg, Boris Austin demonstrates a wealth of knowledge when it comes to photography. His work has received awards and has been exhibited and published worldwide. He is teaching a Digital Photography Weekend Workshop for Beginners on the 10th & 11th of April.

CHARITY BIKE RIDE

With spring cleaning and tomb sweeping just around the corner, join China Charity Challenge  on April 3rd for their first bicycle challenge of 2010! Along with the Schoolhouse at Mutianyu, they bring you, the Bohai or Bust Charity Bike Ride! They have put together a fun-packed day designed for people at all levels of biking.  Finish the challenge back at the Roadhouse where a classic Schoolhouse barbeque awaits.  Bring friends and family for a healthy day in the sunshine!
