We are looking at expanding our team and seeking people who are interested in taking on small projects.

Listed below are some of the projects we are looking for people to help out with.

• C52 Connecting Cultures Culinary Challenge Coordinator – ideal if you love food and are keen to meet people of all nationalities to learn about different cultures
• Youth Education & Entertainment Marketing Intern (Teenager work experience position) -  ideal if you are a student interested in learning about business and marketing and looking for work experience.
• Family Programs Development & Promotions -  ideal if you have a family of your own and want to help develop programs that will give families opportunities to have fun together and maximize their China experience.
• Charity Event Manager – ideal if you are interested in building relations with various NGO’s and charity groups and enjoy coordinating fundraising events.
• Beijing Tours  & China Travel Marketing – Ideal if you like the idea of exploring China and researching opportunities for specialised travel  and tours.
• Health and Well Being Program Development - Ideal if  you are are interested in promoting health living &  learning more about Chinese Medicine, Qi Gong, etc.
• Culinary Programs Development – Ideal if you love food and have ideas for cooking lessons, dinner parties or catering programs.
• Tea Products & Programs If you know the difference between a Fujian oolong and the Yunnan puer and can talk for hours on the health benefits of different brews, then we’d love to meet you.
• Educational Programs for School Groups – Seeking teachers or other people experienced with working with groups of young children to teaching Chinese cultural activities or creative arts programs.
• Corporate Development: Events, Training & Team Building – interested in developing  corporate events, training and team building programs.
• Marketing International programs to Chinese clients – ideal if you are an outgoing Chinese person who is interested in trying out new hobbies and learning about other cultures.

Our programs provide the perfect opportunity for Chinese people to not just learn English, but to interact naturally and build friendships with people from other cultures who share the same interest. We are looking for local people who can help us build our Chinese cliental and help develop programs that are of interest to Chinese people.

Our range of culinary programs is rapidly expanding as we build relations with more and more people in the Beijing community. We strive to continually improve our programs and would like to have someone on board to suggest and implement new ideas to improve our programs and ensure that we deliver consistent, high quality programs. We also need help marketing these programs, coordinating the schedule, publishing a recipe book, developing market tours, training teachers, etc.

We are looking for someone who is interested in researching the market to see what health & life style programs can run successfully at the Hutong and finding clients interested in doing these programs.
We need someone to help us build a community of people interested in this area and communicate with teachers at the hutong to gather quality information for our web sites and possible future publications.

Ideal if you like the idea of exploring China and researching opportunities for specialised travel  and tours.

We are looking for someone to help us put together some great packages for people visiting Beijing and China.  Note you don’t necessary need experience in China travel, you just need the enthusiasm and passion to want to explore it further. Mark & Stacey worked for years as tour leaders in China, also Sophia and Jess have had years working in youth hostels, so together we have many contacts and ideas. We now need someone to market and develop our ideas. We need help to get the The Hutong brand known in the tourism industry.

ideal if you are interested in building relations  and enjoy coordinating fundraising events.

We are seeking people to collaborate with various NGO’s and charity groups and help us promote and manage bi-monthly or even monthly charity fundraising events such as wine tasting, Spring fayre,  etc  We want to organise events that serve a dual purpose of bringing new faces to the hutong, while at the same time raising funds for a good cause.

Ideal if you have a family of your own and want to help develop programs that will give families opportunities to have fun together and maximize their China experience.

Would involve finding out what families are interested in and coordinating family events  or  regular kids programs. This does not mean you would run the programs, instead you would find out what parents are interested in for their children and find people who can run these programs. We need someone to network in the community and find the right people to help us develop quality, intercultural, educational family activities.

We are looking for someone who wants to learn about business and marketing in exchange for helping us get in touch with what todays youth are looking for. This would be like an intern position, where we can help you learn about business operations through real life experiences. Ideal for someone who can incorporate this into their work experience or personal project at school.

Ideal for someone who loves food and is keen to meet people of all nationalities and learn about different cultures.

We need someone to help us find hosts from 52 countries in 52 weeks (1 year) for our C52 Challenge. This would involve contacting embassies, restaurants, etc and to reach out to as many different nationalities as possible.  Could also involve updating web site, getting photos, video, etc of events.

Our venue is a great space for providing an authentic Chinese experience in a comfortable environment so is perfect for corporations looking for something a little different.We have some great team building programs available to help promote intercultural relationships. Now all we need is someone who can get the word out to the corporations. For someone who has had experience in this field, there is opportunity to work in partnership to develop these programs further.

Seeking teachers or other people experienced with working with groups of young children to teaching Chinese cultural activities or creative arts programs.

We are developing our youth education programs for international schools to give students of all ages exposure and increased understanding of Chinese Culture.  We are also looking for people who can offer interesting drama, dance, art, music or any other type of program encouraging students to express themselves.

If you enjoy drinking tea, then you will love our tea lounge and all the tea fanatics that congregate here. It is always a pleasure to meet others who love tea as much as us and we are often looking for people to help out with our tea events. We are looking for someone to help  build The Hutong’s profile in social networks such as,  twitter, face book, blog etc. We also need someone with an outgoing, friendly personality to represent The Hutong at expat magazine events , networking events, etc and help spread the word about what we do. Building relationships with local radio & tv stations, etc

Looking for those who miss their tool shed or garden or people with good ideas to make our place look great.

The downside to living in the Hutong is that the buildings are old and require on going maintenance. We also have plenty of room for people with creative ideas to help make our place look better. Alternatively if you live anywhere near Bei Xin Qiao and enjoy gardening, you are welcome to come and tend our plants in hope we can keep them all alive this year. It may be as simple as giving advice to our ayi on how much watering they do or don’t need. We have the space but not the time or the green thumb.

We are seeking people who like taking pictures and writing stories about interesting people and cultural activities.

We are looking for a photographer to help us update our web site with more photos & videos. We are also looking at making publications or information leaflets about local ingredients, TCM, Chinese tea, etc so we need lots & lots of photos.

We are looking for people to write short articles about the Hutong and the various programs we have on offer as well as the interesting people we have the privilege of getting to know. We can help you find stories and make connections.

The idea is to spread the word about The Hutong by getting more articles printed in local expat magazine, guide books
